Paintings for Nepal Earthquake Relief Project

Hi everyone,

I have not updated anything here for a long while now, so I thought I'd say something quickly. I have been working on a "Paintings for Nepal Earthquake Relief Project" for about three weeks now. I have a very dear friend from Nepal and his sister and team are a local NGO in Nepal. I decided to sell my paintings and give 100% from the sales to this local NGO group. I have good news. So far I have sold  AUD$2,600 of my paintings. I will put out some more paintings soon, so please keep an eye on and do let me know if you would like to be part of this project for a very good cause.

You can donate directly at:  The Survivors website: http://www.the-survivors.org/

My Casual Paintings in 2013

Update on my oil paintings

The Year 2013 has been quite busy for me. I have been working very hard on my academic books and research publications and of course, teaching and researching at the university. This is the job I enjoy the most and it is the best job in the world.

As art is part of my soul, I from time to time painted something in 2013 (many of them are not yet completed). I also did a few drawings too. I have not drawn for years, so I am quite rusty. There are definitely room for improvement.

At the moment, I don't have any plan to exhibit any of my paintings yet. Here is what I would like to share with you for the time being. These photos were taken using my phone, so the quality of the photos is not very good. In this post, it is also a great pleasure to show you my home where all my paintings are put on the walls. I hope you like my paintings.

Hours: Monday-Saturday 7am-4pm; Sundays: 8am-4pm
Opening night: Fri 30 Nov, 2012, 6.00-8.00 pm

Artist’s Statement

This exhibition is a showcase of Aek Phakiti’s seascape oil paintings on canvas. The song/metaphor ‘Wind beneath my wings’ underlines the theme of these paintings. This theme is to acknowledge that other people, such as our family, colleagues and friends, help us succeed our goal. Their love, encouragement and concern for us are important sources of energy that help us achieve and shine. It is hence important to let them know that they are much appreciated. So, don’t forget to thank people who have been supportive of you and tell them “you are the wind beneath my wings” (Jeff Sibar & Larry Henley, 1982).
